Realizing the Value of Microsoft Teams

Realizing the Value of Microsoft Teams | Binary Tree

The COVID-19 Pandemic has forced many organizations to ramp up their support for employees working from home. The recent surge of new Microsoft Teams users may be a move of necessity for many right now, but most organizations will realize the value of Teams now and into the future.

Last April, a Forrester study commissioned by Microsoft on The Total Economic Impact of Microsoft Teams, documented the benefits of Teams. In the study, Teams is shown to have a payback period of under 6 months and the ability to produce over $5,000 of cost savings per user over a three-year span. Let’s take a look at some of key benefits attributed to Teams in the study.

Saving Time for Information Workers and Firstline Workers

Forrester found that information workers can save 4 hours a week from improved collaboration and information sharing. With Teams, they can be more effective and efficient by collaborating in real-time through having one place for coauthoring, document searches, conversations and more. Firstline workers are also made more efficient and save about an hour a week. They are able to enhance how they complete their jobs and collaborate with team members through finding resources and sharing information.

Saving Time and Improving Security for Remote Workers

Regarding remote workers, 90% of organizations stated that Teams creates better engagement for remote workers and 84% said that it improves remote working security. And keep in mind that these figures were cited by Forrester well before the recent surge of workers working from home due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Increasing Effectiveness and Efficiency

All of the organizations that Forrester interviewed and surveyed realized significant time savings in conducting meetings with Teams. They found that meetings were more effective and efficient due to the intuitiveness of Teams and how well audio and video are integrated into their calls. Additionally, the organizations stated they were able to reduce the number of meetings by nearly 20% due to the collaboration capabilities inherent in Teams. Some of the other efficiency benefits attributed to Teams include reducing the time needed in decision making, reducing the volume of emails sent, and reducing downtime.

Reducing Costs

Teams also was cited as reducing IT and business costs. There is an obvious reduction in the costs related to web conferencing, long-distance, mobile phones, and on-premises telephony. In addition, Teams was cited as reducing IT compliance and eDiscovery costs, as well as reducing the cost of hiring and onboarding new workers.
