Learn. Master. Grow. From the Microsoft Exchange MVPs to You.

We’ve always wanted to write a book about Binary Tree. Our history, award-winning products, and transition from a Notes company to a Microsoft and Notes company are just a few of our many accomplishments. But frankly, a book takes a lot of effort and I couldn’t imagine finding enough time to create a quality product worthy of the Binary Tree name.

Going back about 15 years, we wrote several IBM Redbooks, and later on a book on security with IBM, but nothing since, and nothing specifically focused on Microsoft. Remember, these were the days before ebooks even existed!
Enter Tony Redmond, a visionary thought leader of everything Microsoft, particularly Microsoft Exchange and Office 365. While Binary Tree has always had a good relationship with Tony, we had yet to team up on anything major. Then everything changed when Tony Redmond published his first Microsoft Exchange Server books. Tony, one of the more well-known Exchange MVPs, approached us about collaborating on some content back in March when we were both heading to the IGNITE conference. We presented a few webinars together and he gave us 100 books, a.k.a. the ‘Exchange bible’, to distribute at our booth. Then Tony happened to walk by our booth, and when someone asked for his autograph, as they say, ‘the rest is history.’
With two Microsoft Exchange MVPs on staff at Binary Tree—Justin Harris and Gary Steere—we were chartered with writing an Active Directory chapter for Tony’s new version of Office 365 for Exchange Professionals. According to Tony, “Binary Tree’s excellent reputation as a leader in Microsoft Exchange migration solutions makes them experts in crafting the AD story. Having been instrumental in migrating some of the largest and most complex environments on the planet, they are in an ideal position to share their experiences with a larger audience and bring attention to the crucial nature of Active Directories.” Wow, was I impressed!
This positioned Binary Tree in a whole new league…with celebrity status to boot. We participated in a joint book release at IT/DEV Connections in Las Vegas, followed by a reception and an ebook signing. Co-authors Michael Van Horenbeeck, Paul Cunningham, Jeff Guillet, and Binary Tree’s Val Vasquez were also at the event. From there, we hosted a webinar with Tony, Justin and Vadim Gringolts, Binary Tree’s CTO, who also assisted with writing content for the book. We’ll also be participating in the next book version, which will be released at Microsoft IGNITE in May 2016.
From my perspective, this is a whole new market position for Binary Tree – we’re associated with top experts and highly sought-after MVPs, and they’re associated with us. There’s a factor of trust and understanding related to our Microsoft expertise. For us, putting ourselves in the limelight is new, an honor, and just the start of more to come. If you want to take your Exchange server skills to the next level, you can easily purchase and download the ebook.
