Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Steven Pivnik is the co-founder and CEO of Binary Tree, a leader in the messaging and collaboration migration and coexistence market. With a broad innovative background in corporate vision and strategic planning that spans 20 years, Steven is a proven entrepreneur, delivering technology solutions to Fortune 500 clients and small businesses alike.
In late 1999, as part of a services asset sale to a venture-backed cloud services provider, Steven joined the acquiring company as Vice President of Customer Implementations, and integrated the next six acquisitions into his national practice. Upon his return to Binary Tree in 2001, Steven changed the direction and focus of the company to fully embrace and support Microsoft Exchange migrations. Steven and his team revolutionized the way customers migrate to the cloud with the advent of hosted migrations.
Steven has built a distinguished executive management career and in recognition, has been featured as a finalist for several awards, including the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year and the Inc Entrepreneur of the Year. Binary Tree’s steady growth has secured a spot on the Inc 5000 list of fastest growing companies seven years in a row. Steven holds a bachelor’s degree from Baruch College, City University of New York.
Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
As the company’s CFO, Eli Bakofsky oversees Binary Tree’s finance/accounting organization, banking and investment relations, acquisitions, treasury, legal, risk management activities, controller functions, human resources and administrative functions. He is also responsible for the Professional Services Team. Eli plays an important role in a variety of strategic and operating initiatives for Binary Tree, including products and organizational strategies.
Eli has over 25 years of experience as a senior-level accounting, finance and operations leader. Eli’s experience includes roles as the Controller of MobileESPN, CFO of Call Sciences, VP of Finance and Administration for Ubiquitel, and CFO for Mobixi. In addition, he held numerous senior leadership positions in AT&T Wireless Services.
Eli received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Queens College of the City Universities of New York. Eli has led several M&A activities, as well as developed, implemented and maintained systems, processes and procedures. In addition, Eli has negotiated partnerships and led domestic and international operating divisions.
Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
As CTO, Vadim Gringolts is responsible for defining Binary Tree’s product strategy and roadmap, identifying market trends and customer requirements, and translating them into feature enhancements and new products for Binary Tree. His work is aimed at turning Binary Tree not only into a creator of state-of-the-art software, but also becoming a trusted advisor to its customers and partners.
Vadim has over three decades of experience working in the messaging industry, including substantial time working as a consultant with some of the world’s largest customers. In this role, he advised them on operation and transformation of their messaging environments, such Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino, and virtually every other messaging system and protocol.
Vadim began his career developing gateways to connect dissimilar mail systems and later transitioned to product implementation, system architecture and high-level messaging migration. His work spanned a wide variety of customers from Fortune 500 companies to small organizations.
Vadim earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Mathematics from The University of Memphis, and holds a master’s in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from Princeton University. He has authored many blogs, articles, and white papers in the migration and messaging arena, and has been a frequent speaker at industry conferences and events.
Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Carl Baumann spearheads the sales strategy for Binary Tree. With more than 17 years of experience migrating users to Lotus Domino, Microsoft Exchange and Office 365, he has become a trusted advisor to Binary Tree’s worldwide customers and partner ecosystem. Carl led the growth of the Binary Tree sales team and partner community throughout North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA), and Asia Pacific (APAC). The global sales organization continues to achieve record revenue success under his leadership.
Carl has assisted several Fortune 500 companies implement highly successful messaging migration and business transformation projects across a wide variety of industries, including financial services, entertainment, high-tech, manufacturing, consumer goods, professional services, and healthcare. He also developed a scalable sales model for migrating customers to Microsoft Exchange Online in BPOS and Microsoft Office 365, resulting in the migration of over two million users to the Microsoft cloud via a remote hosted migration process invented by Binary Tree.
Carl holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from LaSalle University and a master’s degree in E-commerce and Technology Management from the Stevens Institute of Technology. Recognized as a well-versed technologist, Carl has contributed to multiple technical papers, including an IBM Redbook on Microsoft Exchange migration, and the publication "Internet Security: A Jumpstart for Systems Administrators and IT Managers" by authors Tim Speed and Juanita Ellis.
Director of Development
Deni Llambiri is responsible for leading the Binary Tree development, quality assurance, and support teams across all product lines. Deni brings to Binary Tree extensive and diverse experience in product development, technology innovation, and enterprise software architecture.
Deni has fifteen years of progressively responsible experience in delivering superior enterprise products to competitive and diverse marketplaces. Prior to joining Binary Tree, Deni held technical leadership roles at Archive Systems and Exigis, where he played a key role in the design and development of complex technology products.
Deni’s experience also includes design, development, and delivery of complex technology products for large enterprises, including document management and workflow technologies, accounts payable automation technologies, and business process automation technologies for the risk management and insurance markets. Deni holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Kean University, and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from New York University.
Stefan af Bjur
General Manager, EMEA
Stefan af Bjur directs strategy and execution to meet the overwhelming demand for Binary Tree’s messaging migration products in its growing EMEA markets. He is the voice of the company’s EMEA business partner ecosystem, which is comprised of many of the world’s most successful consulting and technology firms, innovative product development organizations, and regional services companies.
Prior to joining Binary Tree, Stefan was part of Microsoft’s CATM (Customer Advocacy & Technology Management) team, where he helped Microsoft win competitive deals by educating and influencing customers, partners, and sales resources around the world.
Stefan has a degree in Information Technology from Linkoping University, in Sweden. His enterprise corporate experience includes roles with both US and international companies, including Microsoft, Acando AB, Sybari Software (acquired by Microsoft), i-Rev Arete AB, and Resco AB. He has held senior-level roles for over a decade in technology sales as Managing Director, Business Area Manager, Regional Manager, Sales Director, as well as Consultant, Developer and Key Account Manager.
Manager of Product Management
As the Manager of Product Management at Binary Tree, Pete Caldecourt is responsible for managing the Product Team, product lines, increasing profitability of existing products, and developing new products based on market requirements. Pete also conducts market research, surveys, and customer and prospect visits to understand and specify business requirements for target market segments. In addition, Pete manages the entire product life-cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities, showcasing his in-depth technical knowledge and ability to capture business requirements for product lines.
Pete has over 20 years of experience working in the messaging industry, and over 15 years of experience in migration and coexistence. Having started his career as an IT Administrator, Pete found an interest in email systems starting with OpenMail, cc:Mail and All-In-One. He then moved into migrations of users from one platform to another, and worked with various coexistence solutions.
Pete is a Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Messaging, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA): Office 365, Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) Exchange 2010, and Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) Office 365 Administrator, Systems Engineer (MCSE) Windows Server 2000 and 2003. He also has certifications for Certified Scrum Product Owner, and Six Sigma Lean/DFSS Green Belt. Pete has contributed to various white papers in the migration and coexistence arenas.
At Binary Tree, Pete, plays a critical role ensuring technical assistance is provided to the Sales, Marketing and Partner Management departments. Pete has been an integral part in many migration and coexistence initiatives, including migrations of up to 150,000 users, for some of the largest organizations around the world.
Director of Marketing and Public Relations
At Binary Tree, Erin Dunkel oversees global marketing efforts to customers and partners, corporate branding, public relations and thought leadership, social media, internal and external communications, events, sales support activities, and customer satisfaction.
Erin is an accomplished marketer with more than 20 years of experience leading strategic marketing and communications programs to drive revenue for companies. Her career in marketing, PR and communications includes both corporate and agency roles. She held increasingly high-level marketing positions at a variety of technology companies including Hewlett-Packard, SAP, SunGard and DecisionOne, as well as companies in diverse industries such as healthcare, interactive marketing services, B2B, hospitality and non-profits.
For four years, she was the principal owner of a full-service marketing consulting firm specializing in results-driven marketing programs for healthcare, technology and B2B companies. She is the author of a PR guidebook chapter on employee communications, and contributes to an ongoing blog on branding and outcome-based marketing. On both the client and agency side, Erin has been instrumental in increasing brand awareness, improving revenues, and achieving positive ROI through strategic marketing and business development activities.
Erin earned a Master of Science in Marketing from Johns Hopkins University and an undergraduate degree in Spanish from The College of William and Mary. She is currently an active member of the Business Marketing Association (BMA) and American Marketing Association (AMA), and was a past AMA chapter VP and program chairperson.
